SkiPHP Resolutions

I had a great time at SkiPHP! It was well organized with interesting speakers and located really close to home. I went to a mix of sessions on topics applicable to my current job as well as topics I knew nothing about. I’m left with a lot of things that I want to learn more about.

Things to look up

  • What is federated code?
  • What exactly is dev-ops?
  • MySQL has a NoSQL api!?
  • What exactly is percona?
  • Look over all the PSR recommendations
  • Look at Clean Code by Robert C. Martin (2 Recommendations!)
  • Orange PHP elephant kickstarter
  • Database migrations (Was this version control for databases? Connected with Laravel?)
  • Find Chris Cornutt’s PHP security website
  • Look at phpqa.org
  • Utah Open Source
  • phpmentoring.org

Things to do

  • Read chapter 8 of the MySQL manual
  • Finish rating talks on Joind.in
  • Join the Utah PHP user group
  • Subscribe to the PHP User Group YouTube channel

Things to try

  • Investigate release processes / continuous integration
  • Apply dependence injection to a small app at work
  • Finally try out Doctrine on a personal project
  • Can I push user role information through Google Analytics to classify our users?
